Breeding Chihuahuas

SO YOU WANT TO BREED HUH?
                                     

   All the time we get questions about buying a puppy to bred. While breeding can be fun, it's not easy and most definitely not cheap! We hear from people who want to breed so their children can see the joy of birth, or so a friend of relative can have a puppy. Breeding is not something that should be taken lightly.
  Many complications can come up when breeding a dog, especially a chihuahua. The breed is typically born with a larger head, so c sections are very common. They are also very expensive. Even if you get through the birth without a c section, so many other things can come up and if your not knowledgeable you can lose both mama and the babies.
  I'm not trying to discourage people from breeding, that is not the purpose of this page. I simply want people to know that you must research as much as possible before making the commitment to breed. You must be ready to pay for a c sections, trips to the vet, and the heartbreak that sometimes comes with breeding. Talk to other breeders, talk to your vet, have a breeder mentor you.
