Taking your puppy home

You have waited 8 long weeks, and now it's time to take your puppy home! Congrats! This is the beginning of a wonderful relationship between you and your puppy. What you need to know about picking up your puppy is below. We will also go over some simple ways to get your puppy used to your home and to be more comfortable.

When you come to pick up your puppy, please allow at least an hour of your time. We will go over basic puppy care with you and we have paper work that must be filled out. You can not take your puppy home without signing these papers. If you are not getting an exclusive puppy pack, we recommend you bring a carrier/crate with you to take your puppy home in. It's common for puppies to get carsick and it may be easier for them to be in a carrier/crate. If you have not paid in full for your puppy, please bring cash. We do not accept check or money order for final payment.

Once you get your puppy home, allow it time to get used to it's new surroundings. It may take some time for your puppy to be comfortable. Remember it's just left the only home it's ever known as well as it's mother and siblings. Set up a place for your puppy. A lot of new puppy owners use a playpen and put a bed, toys, and food/water in there. You can also use a blocked off area in your house for this. Make sure you place a clean puppy pad in the area. It may help your puppy to have a stuffed animal to cuddle with. Take your puppy out to play in short periods, several times a day but remember you don't want to over do it! Puppies need their sleep. Most of our puppies are still on semi moist food. You will be instructed on how to slowly decress the amount of water added to the food so that your puppy will be on just dry within one to two weeks. We recommend using puppy pads until your puppy has had the complete set of shots. Once that is done you may start potty training if you decide to discontinue using puppy pads. Some new owners will just use the puppy pads. Make sure your puppy has fresh water and food available at all times! Some people prefer to feed on a schedule, however we believe it best to allow your puppy to have access to water and food 24/7 until atleast 12 weeks. Provide your puppy with plenty of toys.Keep away from toys that have bells or other such things that could come lose and pose a choking hazard.

Make sure you have everything you will need for your puppy before bringing it home. The last thing you want to do is to run to a pet store when you could be getting to know your new puppy. If you have gotten an exclusive puppy pack with your puppy, you will have most of what you need already at hand! If not then we recommend you purchase the items below:
  • crate for your puppy
  • bedding for the crate
  • food and water dishes
  • toys for your puppy
  • puppy shampoo
  • treats

You will also need a playpen or baby gate so you can block off an area for your puppy. This will allow your puppy to have a place of their own

It's best if you don't have a lot of visitors when you first bring your puppy home. Your puppy will need time to adjust and its best if your puppy is not overwhelmed.

We will be available 24/7 after you take your puppy home. If you have any problems we ask that you feel free to contact us, day or night! We love to keep in contact with our puppy buyers and enjoy updates and pictures!!
